I, not really a Trekkie but definitely a fan at the time, married a Star Wars geek. This is NOT a part-time hobby for the man, however, he does NOT dress up and go to conventions, so hypothetically there's still hope
Let's face it, with the recent Disney purchase of Lucasfilm, the marketing for Star Wars is about to boldly go where no man has gone before. Star Trek in our house may just die off like the dust-gathering Star Trek Phaser remote control I refuse to throw out. Star Wars toys and collectibles abound.
So, recently when contacted to review the Angry Birds Star Wars Playing Cards, how could I refuse?
Apparently I am the ONLY person left on the planet not playing Angry Birds because when I told Sexy Guy about the cards, I found out that he plays Angry Birds all of the time and had been looking forward to the new Angry Birds Star Wars app. Who'd've guessed?
The cards are beautiful and my nine-year old-like husband was happily scanning through them saying, "And this bird does this, and this bird does that". He's a happy guy. I'm happy because as a family, we already play a lot of card and board games, and these colorful little gems just made those evenings that much more fun.
In my opinion, these playing cards would make an AWESOME stocking stuffer for the geek in your life- or a simple gift for Star Wars peeps that you may think a lot of, but don't necessarily have the budget to buy a big gift.
Now isn't this more fun than discussing politics? Go. Buy. Play and may the force...
My son was married last Sunday and when they arrived in Romania and found a free wifi connection, what does he report on? Why, that Disney had bought Lucus Films...and declared it a conspiracy! That my friend, is an obsession, I fear!

DeleteAwesome! We don't own any video games but the hubby sometimes lets the boys play Angry Birds on his phone and they've become obsessed. I bet they would love these. :)

ReplyDeleteHmmm, I have a girl who loves Star Wars and Angry Birds. I'm not sure where she got the Angry Bird obsession since nobody in our house owns an iphone, or any phone with apps for that mattter.

ReplyDeleteMy husband is a big Star Wars fan (though he also likes Star Trek, but for different reasons). Our son, at the age of four, became obsessed with movies/videos. One at a time. He would choose a movie to fixate on, then want to watch it over and over and over for weeks. I would limit him to twice a day, but that was still watching "A New Hope" twice a day for six weeks. It broke something in me that I don't think can ever be repaired. and my fingernails itch every time I so much as hear the Star Wars theme. YOU are a good woman for being game to play the Angry Birds card game! I'd do it too, but I might just sigh and eyeroll myself to death in the process.
