Happy New Year-- You've Been Warned

Remember NaBloPoMo? Posting EVERY day for 30 days...
I don't learn.

I have committed to the 365 day challenge (I'd love to link to the sadist creative soul that comes up with these challenges, but I have no idea where it originated--let me know if you came up with it and would like your credit).

I will be shooting at least one photo everyday for a year. That's 365 days of unrestrained creative expression.

Oh stop cringing, I didn't say I'd POST one photo every day.
My friend Chris did this challenge and came up with some pretty amazing shots in desperate times (like a photo of the ice cream sunday he was eating around 11.50 pm). Bombastic Bandicoot is trying it this year-- her enthusiasm is what made me start thinking about it (blame her).

So,

now that you know you won't be suffering through each photo, reading that announcement back is pretty funny isn't it? I'm committing to do something I already do-- me and my Nikon implant I also use as a right arm.

My first photo of 2010?
Sure I'll post it, thanks for asking.

New Year's Eve in London.
Loads of people, streets blocked off, tube station put on hold, river closed down, freezing conditions.
The fireworks on the Thames, appearing as if they were springing from the London Eye and lighting up the clock tower. Amazing.

Only wish I were there instead of photographing the event on my telly.

Yep. The quality I will come up with under pressure to perform.
Here's to 364 more exciting photos like this one. Happy 20TEN.

  2. YAY! I'm so glad you're doing it too! Great picture and I would never have guessed it was taken from your television! :)

  3. Did the "365" idea come from me? I did 12 resolutions EVERY STINKIN' DAY for 365 DAYS ... yup. Every day. Even if I had to stay up until 3 in the morning to finish them all each day. And I actually DID miss 4 journal entries, weighing in once ... blogging a few times ... things like that due to technical difficulties and memory difficulties, lol. Not perfect, but 99.6% on the worst score for the year. Not bad.

So ... 365 days of photos? I LOVE IT! I HOPE YOU POST EVERY ONE. I'd love to see them. Ellen Patton could have been your inspiration since she has put up a photo/post EVERY DAY for like ... three years? A friend challenged her and said they'd mail her a huge bag of chocolate chips if she succeeded. She succeeded! I love her photo blog, don't you? Big Red EP?

Got any other resolutions? I notice that for the last two years mine have often been weight related. And I'm doing OK. I began January 2008 at 199 lbs (yikes!!!), January 2009 at 172 lbs, and my "official January 2010 weight" is 161.5 lbs. My goal had been 157 ... not far off, eh? And I actually DID hit 158 two weeks into December. Then I ate yummy things. lol! However, I am happy.

Sorry I have been scarce. I seem to be having a hard time with motivation and time management. Wondering what the solutions are to that.

    I love you Jeri!

  5. By the way ... I would just like to say:

    JACOB IS FRIKKIN' HOT.

    Go werewolves.

Twilight 2 was even better than Twilight the first ... don't you think?

Or with your bad movie luck did you get to see it?

  7. How'd you get the pic from the TV without the glare from a flash? Or was there no flash? Do tell!

Good luck on the next 364...it's the 2nd already, ya know.

  10. Can I tell you my jaw about hit the keyboard when I read the first couple lines of this post?

Very relieved it's something you already do (and enjoy) anyway.
Not that I don't enjoy reading your blog posts, and I like them to be frequent!!!
Nice photo of a photo (so to speak)!

  12. Hahaha, oh that is so funny, you got me there, I was just framing my comment about New Years eve in central London, when you dropped in the punch line! I think you are barking mad, of course, but ten out of ten for chutzpah, good luck hon, I shall be watching this spot..

  14. Great picture, actually! And good luck with the picture posting thing. I considered it for a nano second then remembered I need to sell my house this year, which means I have my work cut out for me. So, I resisted.

Hppy New Year to you all!

  15. NaBloPoMo was started by a woman named Eve, but I cannot remember her last name or her blog name now. Sorry. If I ever find it again, I'll let you know.

I love your photography. I'd love to start a 365 day project, but I really doubt I would make it the entire year. I have a hard enough time blogging every day. =)

Sorry you missed the majority of Sherlock Holmes.

  16. Oops! Just found her On NaBloPoMo. Her name is Eden (not Eve) and her blog is http://www.fussy.org/

  17. Why is everyone blaming me for this? That is an AWESOME shot! You captured the day and the moment perfectly!

Did I really post a picture last year of a sundae I was eating at 11:50 pm? I'd forgotten that, and last night I did the same thing -- well it wasn't totally the same (it was 11:49 pm).
