When Computers Collide

Karen at The Rocking Pony needs to see garden pictures, but my macbaby and her computer aren't compatible.
Therefore, we're all taking a tour... you don't mind do you?

Just think of it like being the younger sibling again. You know, the poor kid that gets dragged to every piano recital, band performance and horribly boring basketball game (what IS that smell?) and gets told, "Just hush, we'll be going home soon" (soon meaning within the week).

The tour:
Let's look out over the garden from upstairs first:

This is from Miss Ky's room looking down on the center point of the garden.

Look a little to the left...

and a little more to the left...oooh, ahhh.

If we were magic and could fly down there, this is what it'd look like from that angle.

BUT we can't fly, so quick!
Back downstairs.
This is one of the little "paths" that have been created with the shrub features...

There's several of these maze-like hiding spots and they all have something different to reveal. One has an apple tree, one has a huge flowering bush (which at the moment is NOT flowering and in need of a haircut), and one has a large twisting tree with a bench just underneath waiting for me to plop a squat on it with a great book...sometime around August.

Let's head back to the house.
stinking moles.

Now we'll start on the patio area.

Seriously, you're already tired? Have you seen a doctor about that?

(we're walking backwards, but you'll be fine, I moved the balls out of the way)

If you go to the right and walk up the steps back to the garden level, you get here:

On the right of this is the other pond-- very overgrown with water lillies and pampas grass

from above that pond.

Can you imagine what it will look like cleaned up and blooming?!
And isn't the weather crazy here, sunny one minute and frosty the next?
No, these pictures weren't from the same day, or even the same month for that matter.

See, it didn't take that long and you didn't even have to suffer that sweaty sock smell from the gymnasium.

I'm still taking reservations for the summer.

  2. You? Are a gem. Thanks for the tour, and the effort it took to host. I have serious garden envy now. There is no way I'll ever get my acreage to look like that. At least this year. But one needs a goal, right?

  3. Now that's what I call a garden...lovely.

  4. Holy Royal Palace Gradens Batman!! Life and thimes of the rich and famous baby! Kelly is ready to come be your nanny now! But it is REALLY so very lovely--I'm glad you had to drag me along.

What I really came over for was to say that I HEART MISS KY!! I love her Jesus Christ amen----I'll have to have her help me with all my posts now--they would be much shorter and more profound. Hope you are having a great day!

  5. Are you serious?? You're moving there this week?? I am so happy!!! When can I come?

  6. I am seriously salivating! I wish I could help you redo the gardens. The large spiky tree-like thingy is a Trunking Yucca. It looks to be at least 20 years old based on height.

I suppose you'll just have to send me pictures of what needs done and I'll have to landscape from afar. Sigh. I'd love to restore a garden like that. The 'bones' are excellent and it won't be too difficult to restore it to its former glory.

    And yes, you ARE funny!

  7. Ok we were all feeling SORRY for you not too long ago? We're we all cracked? Holy CRAP you live in a mansion with the rich and famous gardens. This place is in foreclosure? As in a cheap deal right now? Buy baby.

  8. It's gorgeous there. My kids would be up to all sorts of mischief accidentally tearing it apart. That little wall, perfect for balancing...

  9. Absolutely incredible. Thanks for the tour. I was surprised to see palms and a pool though. In my ignorance, I though England had a cool climate.

  10. You deserve a happy reprieve! The grounds are divine. If I could, I would come and be your gardener for free:)

  13. "Aaaaaaaah," she sighs sweetly as she sips her tea. "Avery satisfying post indeed."

[Girlfriend, you have scored a tremendous blessing. : D ]

"Aaaaaaaah . . . " she sips another sip of tea and dreams about strolling the gardens with her friend. "Now, if I DO go to Norway this summer and I get a changeover in England with a bit of a gap in days . . . " she ponders as off she wanders in her dreaminess with a smile. XO

    p.s.
Gardener or no? It's not essential, but if you have one you'd be steps closer to Heaven than some of us. I'm thoroughly enjoying the sweat of my brow as I plant out my Liliputian orchard, add to my berry patch, and assist the girls in planting a mini-Mount Vernon veggie garden. Life is good (but would be great with a gardener).

  15. What a great post to remind of what I have to look forward to when I get home. Ahhh, to have green things around me again and colourful flowers. I miss that garden. Thank you for the post, though I'm sorry it's because two computers don't like each other.

  16. Was that your backyard?! It is beautiful! Love the pics!

  17. Seriously? That is just about the bestest backyard EVER! I LOVE IT!

I'll book my reservation for the first weekend in June, thanks. :)

  18. Thank you for an enjoyable walk round your garden. Let's hope that we have a good summer so that you can make the most of it.

  19. That. Is. Awesome! As in like stupendously awesome!

Can we, umm, trade houses? Just for a little while? My back yard is awesome too..if you like a tree stump, a diseased tree, plain concrete patio and various drying piles of dog turds.

    Ugh, where's my Prozac?

  20. Wow! That's stunning. I'm jealous! I'd like to reserve the first week of August please ;)

  21. Blah blah. And, you know I totally thought of Gromit & Wallace and the Wererabbit when I saw the mole holes. Hee hee. Missing you.

  22. Oh wow! Will you book me for a whole month? You're not ever going to want to leave I think. I wouldn't. Gorgeous!!! Thanks for sharing.
