She Nailed It

Did you hear that?

The sound of footsteps exiting the room. The sounds of the last few people who had previously hung on to the hope that this hadn't turned into another Mum blogging about her toddler...

Yes, it's Miss Ky again, gracing the pages of another PSF. What can I say, she just happens to be with me during all of my waking hours.
Most of that time I don't mind have a mini-girlfriend hanging around, but there are moments I wonder if my time could be spent more productively.
Between the eight times we celebrate the toilet and hand washing events, we lay out feasts of graham crackers and baby bell cheeses and dance to the Ting Tings.

Sometimes we do girly things
like fingernails.

I burned my soapbox against those ridiculous mothers painting 3 year-old's nails when Miss Ky began chewing her tiny little fingernails.
I now use polish as an incentive, "We don't want to bite our nails and ruin the pretty, do we?"

So today, after clipping off the remainder of a painfully low bitten nail, I suggested we polish. She's amazingly patient waiting for it to dry and always very proud of her chubby little hands.

Silly me thought I could do the dishes while leaving her with Bambii for a few minutes...
Sillier me thought she was satisfied with my paint job...
apparently not.

That is NOT my polishing job (just to be clear) and yes, my daughter does dress herself, why do you ask?

  9. she's quite gorgeous - and my middle daughter was biting her nails- but I took her to a nail salon for a real manicure and that was incentive enough for her to stop!!

  10. I too was going to mention how absolutely, utterly, devastatingly beautiful your little devil child is.(please forgive that, she's too cute to be anything but an angel) But at this point it would just sound redundant, no?
Anywho, I love the nail job. Looks stangely familiar to me. Oh yes, now I remember. My own fingernails resemble that whenever I let my Haley have a go at it.

  11. I tried offering my 9 year boy a bit of nail color as an incentive to stop biting his nails. It didn't work.

  12. What a sweet face - I guess that is so you don't kill her when she is acting up, right? Anyway - lovely child. AND lovely polish job she did there!

  13. she is a beauty. I thought blogs were like wallets where we keep snapshots of our family and show them to anyone who looks remotely interested. I like hearing about peoples children. If you want to wander down my road I’m home.

  14. I'm glad to see you've turned to the toddler side! After all, you write about what happens in your life. And let's face it, most of that life is your kids.
I think you're on to something in bribing her not to chew her nails. Very creative way of taking care of the problem.
I you'd like to read about my toddler (who is now 7) we're at Cake Crumbs.

  17. She looks pretty excited and too stinkin' cute.. I felt the same way about the polish, but I found that OPI products don't contain the formaldehyde so I gave in. My girl loves having her nails painted!

  18. Oh yes. I, too, was one of those women - 'Ooh - look how she's painted her daughter's nails - ooh it just looks soooo cheap'...Ahem. Now I'm like 'Do you want your feet and your hands?' Hey, it kills a few minutes...

I just love Miss Ky. If you think you've got trouble now, just give it a few more years...

  21. She can paint her nails as well as I can and I have had years of practice but I think that my problem is that I did not start young enough. She is going to be a beauty!

Thank you for remembering my birthday. It was yesterday.

  25. OK. Could your blog GET any better? Adorable background, adorable photos, funny posts ... and I was so happy to read that Disney gave you more time with your photos, too.

As for fingernails, I used to use permanent marker on ONE nail ... just to measure how much finger sucking was going on. I'd color their nail and my nail .. at the end of the day whoever had more "ink" on their nail got candy. (Sometimes I helped them win by washing dishes. Takes the ink right off! lol)

Miss Ky really is a looker. What a beautiful baby/little girl. Great photos too.

  27. Hey stranger! I feel like I have been gone forever-----oh wait...I have.

Looks like you all have been doing well and dandy without me.

I don't understand--what's wrong with that paint job? That's what my girls' looked like every time I painted them. That may explain why they didn't want me to do it very often....
    hmmmm..

Miss Ky seems so yummy and delightful--great pics--my word verification is catoot---blees tou!

  29. Aw...she's just so adorable. You must have missed a couple of spots when you were doing the painting. It's good she could finish up the job herself. HA! Hope you are having a good week. :D

  30. What an adorable little imp! She'll get better, mum. Make sure she gets her Omega-3 (flax seed oil or salmon are great) and plenty of protein in the morning. Mis Ky is so beautiful.

  31. Soo cute! Sounds like she is quite a handful. Thanks for reminding me how lucky I am to have my youngest in kindergarten this year... not to brag or anything... ;)
