Today there are cinders where my eyes have burned holes with looks only a frustrated mother can give. The walls have paint chipping from where my shouts have ricocheted. And today when I finally found an hour to change my oil? It rained.
And the boys didn't watch their sister but instead let her wreak havoc on the ONLY room I managed to salvage from yesterday's pillage.
I only knew she wasn't being watched when she came outside in slippers to see that I still hadn't managed to get the oil filter off.
In the rain.
We don't have a filter tool.
Nope, the Hubby does it by hand. Isn't that sweet?
Only his stinking hand isn't here and my hands don't have that much torque when angled up from the underneath of a car.
I read somewhere that no one reads blogs on the weekend, so I'm assuming it's ok to say
I am pissed off at the Air Force right now. Hmmm, "pissed" here means drunk, and I'm not that.

I'm so sorry you are having a rough time of things...wish I could help. ALthough I have to admit i would be ZERO help in the changing the oil department. As in probably the opposite of help...we'd get a good laugh out of it though.
ReplyDeleteI'd be pissed too. And not the drunk kind.
your post made me laugh...not sure that was the intent, though. i hope things can only get better now! have a good weekend!

ReplyDeleteI read blogs on the weekend. That PG rating you once had is going to be PG-13 if you keep that language up. :-) Maybe Hubby will invest in a proper sized oil filter wrench when he gets back.
ReplyDeletedon't push me DS, I may start saying "fart" again too--oh, there, I've said it.
ReplyDeletehere's hoping you find the time to get pissed on the weekend.
ReplyDeleteandy
p.s. after the kids are tucked into bed is probably better than at lunch, though.
aw, i hope things brighten up for you really soon and that you can enjoy the mother's day you so richly deserve!!!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me???? Get yourself pissed. Pronto.
ReplyDeleteWell, I may have something that will make your day. A friend of mine works for Twilight Teez, and she just sent me this link.

Apparently the whole store is having a blow-out sale.
I know a t-shirt can't change the oil, but at least you'd have something cute to wear the next time you tried to do it. ;)
Shall I come round with Mrs Authorblog and the Authorbloglets to help?
ReplyDeleteThat's very inconciderate of your husband! Go out and buy yourself a tool immediately. And a new frock. And a cake. Sending you a cake in my thoughts, with chocolate tim tams on it.
ReplyDeleteI am sending you a bottle of GOOD wine, or what ever libation you desire...
ReplyDeleteWarm Fuzzies!
Maybe you should be pissed right now. Mmm... drunk I mean. It might help. ;)
ReplyDeleteHope tomorrow is MUCH better.
Girl, you are NEVER supposed to ask that 'Can this get any worse?' question. Never. Guess you know that now?
ReplyDeleteI hope things improve for you soon.
What the...are you saying you tried to change the oil? Twenty bucks and a relatively comfy chair. Don't worry one bit.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Woman in a Window...pay someone to do that job. Mo has leftover pounds I can send to you(as in cash, not weight)...Oh this language barrier!
ReplyDeleteYou are in firm standing in HERO status in my book. Not only are you being a single mom with the added stress of your hubby in imminent danger, but you change your own oil. Take that to a garage and be done with it. Seriously. You have enough crap going on without messing with mechanics.
ReplyDeleteSome people read blogs weekends- like me, for example! And I quite like your funky socks in the later pictures! xxx
ReplyDeleteI know you don't drink, but the American pissed seems quite applicable here. I take it there's no Jiffy Lube nearby?
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness--my hubby does that too--except the last time he spent 10 minutes showing my son how to change the oil and it backfired on him. My son and I had to go to Napa to get a tool just to open the lid (my husband was like--I had one of those! Yeah, in his LOCKED tool box) and then--my son drained the transmission juice instead of the oil. The poor kid came in and goes, "I thought oil was supposed to be brown" ACK! So--instead of $30 for someone to change the oil in the first place--we got to pay for a tow and the garage to put the juice back in the transmission.
ReplyDeleteOopps-I kinda took over your comments--sorry
You deserve to get drunk... I can barely handle it when the man's away a week at a time.
ReplyDeleteHang in there, and happy mother's day to you...
Go on - get that chocolate out that you're saving for me. It's ok - we can get some more!! Sounds like you need it honey! Keep on being strong and then when hubby finally does come home he'll just have to nmake it up to you! x
ReplyDeleteAt least this post has made it to the POTD, so that is some small compensation for your trials and tribulations in the rain?! x
ReplyDeleteNow please!!!! I'm with the others that say 'pay a man'. You are already Superwoman, don't try to be Superman.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on POTD Contender! In my opinion, the price of changing oil is well worth the few bucks when you consider the filth and frustration you have to endure when doing it yourself. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteOh! Silly me! Congratulations on POTD as well.
ReplyDeleteGet someone else to do it and go and relax. :D
You have so many suggestions and offers of help. :) I think you must relax.:)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
I'd be pissed too!
ReplyDeleteIf I was there I'd help for sure. But seeing as I am across the pond I can be with you only in spirit and I agree with the others, "Get a man to do it for a few bucks", as you say. Congtrats on POTD - a frequent event for you I have noticed. I admire you writing very much and do not pop round often enough, sorry - you are most welcome to chat any time. Thank you for dropping by at my place. You are in my Grand National with pretty good odds so you might make a few bob (or bucks or is it dimes?). Lots of VIPs coming and saddling up! Trouble is I keep having to keep re-writing because more and more want to ride in it! Lola from Italy has just gate crashed but most welcome of course. David is in training as well (boy I've got a few surpises for him!). Hope you've got a good sense of humour! Apologies in advance! Hope it cheers you up a bit and makes you laugh. Thanks for the info on Woman in a Window (I can sense her having a peep from behind the curtains! as I speak). In the race we lapse into Shakespearian, so "Methinks you will not protest too much but prithee tarry a while with me in merriment!" Best wishes ~ Eddie
