It's snowing. (Yay)
Some of the decorations are up (all that are going up I'm afraid--boo), some of the gifts are safely stuck into various nooks and crannies all over the house and tomorrow is the last day of school before the holiday break.
Sound ideal?
I have a cold, Hubby is sick, one kid stayed home from school after praying to the porcelain gods in the middle of the night and while I made the mad dash to get some groceries, a school phoned to say another kid would be joining him. One key gift for one middle kid has not been purchased. It is the make or break gift-- you know how it is. The gift is for one of the children now firmly attached to my side. Huge emphasis on the "Boo!"
Weather report for this household:
Chances are good that school holidays will begin early with little or no chance of finishing up important preparations (see above). Teacher gifts may be stranded until further notice as are holiday treats meant for parties scheduled to take place. There may be a slight possibility of laundry letting up with kids all living in their pj's, but not if a barf fest is to ensue. If that storm blows in, a blizzard of sheets and comforters could clog up all washers and dryers.

Tell me what new movies you're watching, it'll will give me something to strive to get out for in the new year...
please.

Oh THANK YOU for posting this! It's nice to know it's not just ME that isn't as prepared as she'd like to be. Luckily I have one more week till the kids are out.
ReplyDeleteHave a merry, half-decorated Christmas!
A few Christmases ago, I was due to cook at my daughter's house...bought the ham and all the side dish ingredients. 3am Christmas morning, The Boy barfed all over the hallway, just as I was putting Santa's gifts under the tree.
ReplyDeleteSo I have a sick, disillusioned child, and a fridge full of food that I am not cooking.
A few hours later, I dropped the food and grandkids' gifts off at my daughter's house, gave cooking instructions, made apologies, and went back home to deal with the sick kid.
I think I ate Ramen noodles on Christmas. Merry Freaking Christmas.
But ya know? We soldier on, we make it through.
And you will too!
Oh, and movies? I've been watching Julie and Julia on DVD.
Want to see Sherlock when it opens. Husband is eager for Avatar.
You do know I have 4 children 6 and under, right? Cuz, yeah, I don't have any time for movies. Boo.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone feels better ASAP!
Fa La La La La. Get some Ginger Ale! Like my song?
ReplyDeleteHopefully everyone will be feeling better quick and you'll be able to get somethings done. I have no idea when I am going to get anything done. I may have to play hooky next week.
ReplyDeleteOMG! What is with all of the sickness! My kids have been sick for two straight weeks and I am about to pull my hair out!! Hope yours feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteHoly freaking crap!! I hope I don't become a carrier of whatever is going around just by visiting your blog! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling your pain though. I have about one hour tomorrow morning to get all the presents wrapped before I have to leave for work; and then after that, I don't know when I'll be able to sneak it in. :{
Praise the Lord, we don't have any junk going around the house at the moment (knocking on wood). I get to work Christmas day. Isn't that nice? Yeah sure.
Good luck. Hope it's just a quick 24 hour bug and that everything starts looking rosy!
Oh Shoo with the cold and all... get well soon you people, Christmas is NEXT WEEK!!!
ReplyDeletesorry the family is sick...better this week than this week....right...I love your blog...i read it all the time but realize I should comment more so you know people enjoy it....(my dog has a blog...not me...she is hysterical...sometimes) anyhow...i need to knwo what the gift is that you havent bought yet...i am just that nosey....
ReplyDeleteMy kids broke up LAST week, all four, and hubby is working in London. I am the only driver and we don't live on a bus route. Teenagers party around Chrismastime, and as one of mine is also disabled, I need to STAY with him at his events. I still need to buy, wrap and stash half my planned pressies, and to plot and shop for the Christmas menu. If one of mine falls sick, at least I will have one less body to play taxi driver to - gimme' some of those germs darned right now! (Wink)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, eh?
Oops, that read back as quite a rant (cringe) - maybe the stress is starting to show? What I MEANT to say was I sure hope everyone is fit as a flea in another day or so..
ReplyDeletei've been remiss in checking my blogs of late, and unfortunately that includes your dear, sweet, humorous one :)
ReplyDeletei decided not to do teacher gifts this year. am i a terrible, ungreatful mother of a student? (i sure hope not) but sometimes i feel like there is just too much hype -- and there *is* something wrong with you if you don't give your child's teacher a gift (plus, as i was going into to the school this morning--last day of school before holidays -- watching all these children come in with gift bags for their teachers AND even some had one for the principal...)i thought that this year, i would go against the flow and give them all st. patrick's day gifts...or something totally random! aurgh!
merry christmas! hopefully your family won't get too sick and it will all be gone by the end of the weekend.
