Information Please....

Name please?

Uh...

Sir, may I have your name please?

Uh... well..

I'm sorry, I didn't hear that.

I had a name. for about a month. Apparently this new family I've chosen already has one of these names in the house and think we might get confused, you know like, "Jake! Hang that back pack up!". Will I know if it's him or me responsible for the hanging of a school bag? And, "Jake, did you wee on the floor again?!" ( I'll be the first to point my finger at the other guy).

You don't have a name?

Um, not really. One boy wanted to call me Nicky Butt, who happens to play football, but I don't think that's why he keeps saying the name and then breaking out in hysterics.

Don't you have a maternal figure in the house, can't she help you with a proper name?

Well, she probably could but she has issues of her own. I know I am Pedigreed as a "Chocolate Labrador Retriever" but she's really taking this literally and is trying to pin me with Fifi names like "Coco". Who names their new best friend "Coco?" (No offense to you girly-men dogs sporting a name like Daisy or anything). She's a chocolate nutter-- basically, she's useless.

So how can I help you today Sir?

I was wondering if you could ask all six of the maternal figures' blog readers if they could give me a name. I'm pretty handy and if I choose one of their suggestions (and if it doesn't make me sound like a sissy-- I'll be living close to a school yard you know and I don't need extra bullying), I will send the clever name-comer-upper a super prize. All the way from Great Britain.

I think we can help you with that... and, if it doesn't work out for you with that crazy family, you'll ring me again?

Well, it was a little complicated dialing this time, but I'll try.

  4. Oh my goddness! I have a co worker that has a chocolate Lab named Ginger and she LOVES her. Ginger just underwent doggy surgery to repair a torn ACL and her "mommy and daddy" are having a really tough time keeping her under control because she wants to run and play. lol

  5. Riley here - I think your name ought to be Chip - as in chocolate chip cookies which I hear are very delicious, not that any of the hogs I live with will give me any. Chip is a very masculine sounding name and still cute and easy to say. :) woof!

  6. That is hilarious! Do you know I was going to suggest Cocoa! I guess that name is out.
Okay, so it is a little boy pup, right? Hmmm.
    Something masculine.
I like dlyn's suggestion of Chip. That is too cute! Masculine and yet chocolatey! Perfect!

    Or
    Max- very masculine
George or Georgie- I just like that name
Charlie- I like that name too
Wally- cuz he's a nutty dog (walnut, get it?)
I don't know. Do you really want me to keep going?

  15. Oh he's beautiful!!!

If he were a girl, I'd probablys suggest something like "Godiva" or Lindt (okay I'm cheating a bit, I'm eating some right now).

"Brownie" or "Fudge" or "Cinnamon" too cutesy?

How about "Napoleon" , Pepper, or maybe "Neopolitan"

    Okay, now I'm hungry!

    Good luck with this!

  16. I have a list of names:

    Snickers
    Shakespeare
    Digger
Dickens - what I named my Bichon Frise :-) yes, after the author.
    Chocolate
Hershey - I really like that one for your dog. He looks like a Hershey, don't you think?

  17. He's such a cutie. He really should get a name SOON!! ;-)

    Thought of another name:
    Blackjack
*I think Hershey is my favorite, though! hint hint. :-)

I've heard it's better to give a dog a name with more than one syllable because all the commands (sit, stay, no) we give them are one syllable and it helps them differentiate? Do you think that's accurate?

  18. So cute!
I came over from Kathryn's blog.
The name I like is "Cadbury", yes the chocolate that I love best!
I hope your chocolate lab will be
happy in his forever home. :)

  24. Hi! New here but I already like your blog! And you are having a give away? This is my lucky day. My give away sensor must have drawn me here. ha.(Or sogratefultobemormon because that's where I found you!)

So ... I looked at this guy and look at his eyebrows! Oh my GOSH his eyes and his brows are SO dang intelligent looking! So I new immediately that he needs a brilliant name. So I looked up the origins of chocolate, seeing as how in only one visit I have determined that you have a deep and passionate love for it, and look what I found:

Romantic lore commonly identifies chocolate as an aphrodisiac. The reputed aphrodisiac qualities of chocolate are most often associated with the simple sensual pleasure of its consumption. More recently, it has been suggested that theobromine and other chemicals found in chocolate, most notably phenethylamine, can act as mild sexual stimulants

So ... I think you should name him Phenethylamine. It's plenty long for a pedigreed pooch (and dontcha know that pedigrees require fancy names) AND it would be cute shortened to Fenni.

    Fenni the chocolate aphrodisiac.

Good luck choosing a name. I see you have other lovely recommendations too.

  25. OK. I just read your whole page and I am ready to commit to the following statement:

    I love this blog!

However, I am not ready to apply for the job. hehe. I have my own little tornado at home and he requires all of my attention!

I wonder why you are moving? Just got a hankering to move to a cute little town you adore? Is it farther away from reptiles, which it sounds like your son will chase regardless of how far away they are?
Your house just seems like such a dream. Too bad to have to leave it ... but maybe if you show me some PICTURES of the new adorable town, I will see why I want you to move there too! Lol!

I have a black lab pup. We reused the name Midnight. (I lost. I wanted a name like Bailey or something. But Hubby and the kids won. LOL)

    Mascot?

    Buddy?

    Major?
