Good Thing SOMEBODY's Watching the Baby

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

We have a "kid's" nativity.
The nice one didn't get unpacked since there really was NO WHERE to put it.

The kid's Nativity was set up by A2 this year (the five year-old).
He painstakingly placed each figure carefully where he thought they should be.
It was a little messed up and his brothers kept telling him so, but we just smiled and said, "Leave him alone, he knows what he's doing".

Then the cards came.

All four children began bringing in handfuls of Christmas wishes home from their friends.

The nativity moved around and squeezed snugly together, but A2 kept making sure he had a fine looking stage for the Holy night.

This is what we currently have marking the birth...
I could get deep and philosophical about how much we're like this scene--everyone so busy with something that we're not even focused on what we should be... but I won't.
I'll just say, I think Flea's Fred and Bessie would be proud.

  1. That cow seems to make a good babysitter. Perhaps I could enlist his services sometime?
I can't wait to hear what you think of THE MOVIE!!!

  4. My scene looks similar. M can't keep his hands off it. It is breakable so I spend a lot of time asking him to be gentle. Its FUN.

  5. To me it looks like he put Jesus front and center and everyone else is behind him. I think he was making sure Jesus was in the very front so everyone could see him. Looks good! ;)

  6. Poetic. Sweet. Moooooving.

I do not judge how others rush back and forth in this season, but I do seek the bovine way. Your son has blessed me with this precious proverbial moment.

    p.s.
Wasn't the manger Miss Cow's food dish? Could I be misinterpreting her "interest" as wonder over the latest "meal"? Nah!!! I'm no cynic -- I love her cow eyes in adoration. She's blessed. As am I. : D

  10. At least the cow is paying attention.
I would love to hear your son's interpretation of the manger scene.
You sure get a lot of Christmas cards - we used to. When we were popular.

  13. Hey, at least your Nativity is attractive. Right now, I'm staring at a $2 special from WalMart. We bought it the first year we were married. With a gift card from our wedding.

As much as the regular me wants to throw it out, the sentimental me is saying, "Aw..."

So it's back on display again this year. I just wish they had painted baby Jesus' face on his actual face...

  15. ha ha. i wrote last year about how MQ made all the people and animals crowd in as close as they could get to jesus, and how I thought that's way it should be, and how we do all tend to be with a new baby...

  16. Is that cow actually watching over the Baby Jesus, or wondering how on earth it's going to access it's dinner?
