We have put in our offer and now it's up to the owner to accept or reject it. He could wait and hope he gets his desired rental rate. If he chooses to wait, it's finished for us since we are quickly running out of time (it felt really flaky to tell the estate agent that we wanted to be moving in within the first week of January, but he knows our reasons and circumstances). Insert nail biting here.
So.... I promised pictures of the garden. It does need a mowing and trimming, the house has been empty a little while. Even so, I hope you see the magic. I wish I could draw the layout for you...
past the apple tree...
brings you back here
(yes, these pictures were on different days, the sun doesn't just pop out like this)
You realize I am going to have a hard time sucking it up if this doesn't work out.
Enough about me, (stop laughing) what was the most fun holiday-related thing you did this week?

That is beautiful! Have all my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteOh how gorgeous! I really hope you wind up in this home!

And really? Honestly? the most exciting thing I've done this week is care for my THREE sick kids and SICK husband and SICK self. It is bronchitis-fest here.
fun.
That's IT! I am now officially jealous. The garden has great bones and WILL be amazing with a little work. I hope you'll let me live vicariously- I'm a Landscape Architect and what a dream it would be to have that garden. I really hope you get the place!
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time a gardener lived there. Don't you wish houses could tell stories?
ReplyDeleteIt is so beautiful--hope it all works out!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Gorgeous. And you negotiate for rent? Strange. But maybe handy. Good luck!
ReplyDelete(We decorated the tree last night and then went on a walk in a blizzard and then came home to make gingerbread cookies. Then the kids were tucked away and my husband and I stayed up late watching very festive Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes. Oh ya baby.)
Gorgeous. Love the gardens. Hope you get it. My fingers are crossed for you.
ReplyDeleteIts gorgeous, but I need to see that aga again...
ReplyDeletefingers crossed still...
Fun? Moi??? Decorated tree after heated discussions about where it should go, why, how, when, blah blah blah. Daughter had hissy fit as wanted tree in a). Son had hissy fit as wanted tree in b) Other son got all mature as didnt give a monkeys where the tree went but made out others were being 'childish'.
I had hissy fit as was fed up with YELLING ABOUT THE TREE and just wanted to DECORATE IT and have very large drink.
Did so. Had large drink. All was well.

I want to go play in that backyard!! I sure hope it is yours...sending happy thoughts your way...
ReplyDeleteI am praying so hard that you all get this wonderful, magical place!
ReplyDeleteBut, just remember, if you don't get it, then it just means there is something better in store for you.
Love it. Those gardens are fabulous, and that's only half??? I'm so jealous. OK, I've got all my figners crossed, my legs are crossed, even my eyes are crossed--I hope this guy gives you an answer soon, do you know how funny I look with my eyes crossed?
ReplyDeleteHoliday related this week-we went to the Magical Forest--it's a local charitable organization that loads up on lights every year, so people can walk through and absorb the Christmas spirit. I'll be posting pictures soon.
It reminds me of a Jane Austen novel!! I am adding my hopes too--
ReplyDeleteThat is a dream garden. I hope you get that house!

Oh, I hope you get that house! Screw what the house looks like, I could live in that garden. That's what I want mine to look like someday but I fear nothing short of hiring an English gardener will make it happen.
ReplyDeletewow, that's GORGEOUS! I'm thinking of magical parties with lanterns strung along the paths, and lovers sitting for a quiet moment on that bench...
ReplyDeleteOh my word! It is just too gorgeous!!!!! It looks like Eden! Just perfect!
ReplyDeleteFrom now on, when I think of stately country homes and English gardens, I will think of your place.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful garden! WOW!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for you.
oh my that garden is stunning. I am sending good vibes your way.
ReplyDeleteWe attended my husbands work Christmas dinner. It was nice.
I don't know why, when I looked at the photos, it reminded me of Alice in Wonderland!
ReplyDeleteNow that? Is an English garden. I wish you the best of luck. It looks so Secret Garden it's creepy.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely amazing girlfriend! You should be so proud...lovely garden, lovely home...I'm jealous a wee bit!

Wow! What a beautiful place. I'm pulling for you. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAs for us recently: On Friday, we spent 117 dollars and, on a whim, we took the whole family to the Kurt Bestor Christmas concert.
Yes, we're independently wealthy. Had I not mentioned that?
p.s. This comment came within a breath of coming from Sharon.
I see the magic! I see the magic! It's like your very own Secret Garden. Oh, I HOPE you get it!!! (so I can come visit you!)
