...How Does Your Garden Grow?

First of all, thank you everyone for your well wishes and good thoughts for us to get this house. I can't tell you how you've carried me across a nerve wracking time.

We have put in our offer and now it's up to the owner to accept or reject it. He could wait and hope he gets his desired rental rate. If he chooses to wait, it's finished for us since we are quickly running out of time (it felt really flaky to tell the estate agent that we wanted to be moving in within the first week of January, but he knows our reasons and circumstances). Insert nail biting here.

So.... I promised pictures of the garden. It does need a mowing and trimming, the house has been empty a little while. Even so, I hope you see the magic. I wish I could draw the layout for you...
Near the back, you find little "paths" that lead off around other shrubs and trees. Let's go this way first....

past the apple tree...
I will make mountains out of molehills. Nothing worse than running through the grass to have your foot sink into one of these pesky holes.

...this path leads to a little bench (my bottom is shivering just thinking about sitting on this).

Another turn...

brings you back here
(yes, these pictures were on different days, the sun doesn't just pop out like this)
and that is just the left half of the garden.

You realize I am going to have a hard time sucking it up if this doesn't work out.

Enough about me, (stop laughing) what was the most fun holiday-related thing you did this week?

  12. Gorgeous. And you negotiate for rent? Strange. But maybe handy. Good luck!

(We decorated the tree last night and then went on a walk in a blizzard and then came home to make gingerbread cookies. Then the kids were tucked away and my husband and I stayed up late watching very festive Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes. Oh ya baby.)

Fun? Moi??? Decorated tree after heated discussions about where it should go, why, how, when, blah blah blah. Daughter had hissy fit as wanted tree in a). Son had hissy fit as wanted tree in b) Other son got all mature as didnt give a monkeys where the tree went but made out others were being 'childish'.
I had hissy fit as was fed up with YELLING ABOUT THE TREE and just wanted to DECORATE IT and have very large drink.
Did so. Had large drink. All was well.

  20. Oh, I hope you get that house! Screw what the house looks like, I could live in that garden. That's what I want mine to look like someday but I fear nothing short of hiring an English gardener will make it happen.

  29. Wow! What a beautiful place. I'm pulling for you. Good luck!

As for us recently: On Friday, we spent 117 dollars and, on a whim, we took the whole family to the Kurt Bestor Christmas concert.

Yes, we're independently wealthy. Had I not mentioned that?

p.s. This comment came within a breath of coming from Sharon.
