Last year,
the twinkling lights, holiday music and a really great gift were just enough to offset the disappointment of my children going through their gifts while Hubby and I were snug in our beds.
This year,
I've been around, read some memes and have discovered that I apparently am part of a small minority that Santa does NOT wrap his gifts for.
I have been declared... a loser (ok, they didn't use that exact word, but we all know it was considered).
So I wondered, how do I switch tracks midway through this child tunnel?
I just do that's how.
Santa has informed me that because Mom and Dad were SO upset about last years' night owls flying about under the tree that he has decided to wrap this year! That'll teach them.
Sad thing is, Santa has bought two rolls of paper so far that have been busted.
Where is Santa supposed to keep that secret paper?

Well you're not a loser. Many Christmases I wish that we'd never started wrapping. But you're right about the kids going through the gifts. At least if they're wrapped the kids have to wait till you're up. I don't think Santa ever wrapped my presents growing up. Part of the fun was sneaking out at four AM and looking at everything before my parents were up, then sneaking back to bed, giggling. Leave them! It's okay, and it's your tradition!
ReplyDeleteOh oh... are we on opposite sides now? *wink* hmmm...I'm actually a wrap-presents-fanatic! I love to WRAP PRESENTS!
ReplyDeleteSanta doesn't wrap presents her either but he only bring one big gift and stockings. I wrap everything else and say it is from us. That way no secret paper needed.
ReplyDeleteShort of buying wrap after bedtime, wrapping everything in a single night, and burning the evidence, I don't know what there is for it.
ReplyDeleteMy kids are young enough that they aren't too snoopy just yet. Still we always hide the wrapping paper with the hidden presents.
ReplyDeleteNow, will you freaking tell us what you thought of Twilight already????
We used wrap Santa presents too. Can't help you with the stealthy paper hiding. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI hear you. In this tiny apartment, it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep paper a secret. I think I've done pretty good just keeping the presents a secret (I think) up to this point. They do find out eventually.
ReplyDeleteHA! Even the remnants. They go looking for the remnants too, the sneaky little animals.
ReplyDeleteRight. Listen up. Tell your lovely darlings that santa cant find paper for every single child, derrr.... and that we have to leave it out for him to wrap when he gets here.
ReplyDeleteMine swallowed that hook, line and sinker.
Only for the times when secret paper was used by husband for the third time. Grrrrr.
You keep that paper suspended in the highest point of your house, lol.
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel any better, one year my kids (elementary school age) used a screw driver & took a cabinet off its hinges, looking for their gifts. We were next door at a party...
Sneaky little devils.
I dont think you are a loser. This year we didn't wrap either. My daughter wanted Barbie's Diamon Castle. That thing is almost as tall as me. I figured it would be more fun to put it together than have it to unwrap the box. And my son got a Little People construction set which was oddly shaped. It just wasn't a wrapping year.
ReplyDeleteSanta doesn't wrap gifts at this house. Sometimes because they are the biggest gifts, but mostly because of the paper issue. Too hard.
