This Is the Photo of the Nap That Almost Took Place

This is me napping. See how my lips are slightly parted and the frown lines are gone from my brow?
See the relaxed state my face is in? Almost like an instant face-lift.

This is the nap I decided to take when the sore throat from last Sunday turned to laryngitis to possible strep throat (I'm thinking I should have seen a doctor by Thursday).
This is the nap that I announced to the ten year-old, "I am going to lay down while Miss Ky is asleep, hold the fort down, will you?" in a whisper only because that's all I can give. Only Miss Ky wasn't informed and as I touched the top stair, she cried out.

So, this nap began with her in my bed, watching for the 3000th time, The Gruffalo. We soon added A1 and then A2 appeared only minutes later.
They began to bicker.
Miss Ky tried to push A2 (the loudest child of all) off of the bed.

I convinced all three wriggling monsters to join the oldest who was downstairs listening to the Norwich match (that I was too sick to take them to). Within 30 seconds I heard "It's mine, give it back!" loud drumming noises and, "Waaaaah!".

So, this is me. napping. As only I can.

  1. There is almost nothing like being terribly ill and feeling SO tired ad having to remain awake for the little loves who hold you hostage!

  2. It's just not even fair, no matter how you look at it. And the paybacks mount against hubby yet again.

  5. Do you know why old people sit in their chairs sleeping all day? They are catching up on naps they missed while they were being held hostage by little ones. Great Post. Thanks for visiting.

  9. So sorry about that--on the bright side---it looks better than Botox on you! I can fall asleep sitting up--but not the whole--with my eyes wide open thing--you are my new hero!

  10. Isn't that always the case when you really need to nap? But I must say, I've never looked as good as you do in that picture when I've tried (and failed) to take a nap!

  13. Ooops! that's what kids are for right? constantly reminding us that there are 'better' things to do than burying our heads in our pillow... *eyes rolled*

  14. Girl, I wish I could get there and entertain your cuties while you actually slept. Hang in there.

  15. Do they sell benadryl in England? While you are sick you can give this drug to your children and THEY will sleep, and then you can sleep.....well no I did not not suggest you drug your children; unless you are absolutely desperate. It is after all only a bit of allergy medicine quite harmless and desperate times call for desperate measures.

  16. Or NyQuil.

Your boy looks like his dad.

When I was sick and the kids were younger, they were sent to their respective rooms with strict instructions not to come out. Or monsters would eat them. Well, I didn't tell them that. But I should have. Try it and see what you think.

  17. Oh hon, I feel for ya'! For someone so ill, you do look positively radiant. I hope the throat has settled down some now - a friend of mine was unbelivably ill with Strep throat last week, and she one of those who NEVER admits to being ill, if it defeated her, it's got to be nasty.

I know it seems a long way off, but once your youngest reaches 12, you will finally be afforded the luxury of dying in peace. (Hugs)

  18. Mothers rarely get naps, but it's so much worse when we REALLY need them and can't have them!

you rock!! You really do! Hope the sore throat isn't strep, and that it goes away fast, even if it is strep. Good luck!!
