My friends, AVT Coach, Miruspeg and Octamom have been doing this cool little theme for the new year where they have each chosen a word to live by (I can't do them justice, you'll just have to pop over to take a look).
I've been thinking of what word will frame my year.
Whinge is the first that comes to mind, but I already do that so I need to think of something that I can work towards.
Puke is covered.
Insanity?
Tired?
um, this seems to be going the wrong way.
I think I have to choose laughter (but don't hold me to it, it's my blog and I can change my mind if I want to).
Laughter, not in the insane-lady-banging-her-head-against-the-wall-in-the-corner laughter, I mean, let-it-go-and-live-the-moment laughter.
An example:
Our home is sometimes the birthplace of some of that natural gas eating up the ozone layer and quite honestly, I can be quite a hag when such obscene moments enter prayer time, table time, bath time or in general when taught to Miss KY, but the other night A2 let one rip as we were trying to get the dinner mess cleaned up (my witching time when all fun stops in our house).
As I took a breath (knowing it could be the last fresh air I'd have for a while) and prepared to go into the usual "What do you say?" lecture, J1 blurted, "You been taking trombone lessons?"
and I couldn't help it. I cracked up. His eyes sparkled as the two of us shared his little joke (it went over everyone else's head).
When Miss Ky showed she could pass gas with the best of them, I did manage my, "What do you say?" spiel, the one that should be followed with "pardon me".
She grinned her cheeky grin and said, "Thaaaank Yooooou".
Global Warming? Take it all in stride, the girl who is causing it was polite.
Laughter... a step away from the straight jacket.

I think laughter is a wonderful word! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we're not the only ones who laugh at natural acts instead of trying to quash them. We live with boys, what can we say?
ReplyDeleteAs Jimmy Buffett says: If we weren't all crazy, we would go insane.
ReplyDeleteAs long as you can still laugh, there is still hope.
I have to believe that things are going to look up for you any day now. I feel it!
ok, you succeeded, cos you made me laughed. The thought of the 'air pollution' during prayer time, *giggle* I can only imagine. Does it come with 'sound' too? *laugh*
ReplyDeleteLAUGHTER - that's your word!
Oh what fun. My daughter is actually second only to dad when it comes to floating the air biscuits at home. As well as belching. The children all know the proper response to that one. "Barge coming through!"
ReplyDeleteLaughter is the best word. Ever. Now about this flatulence business....
ReplyDeleteI love your choice of words - and I usually always chuckle when I am here! And my sons and husband win the award for 'tooting' -which is really way too polite a term for the noise/odor that comes out of them! Your little girl sounds like a cutie - and I have a feeling she can hold her own! Enjoy each day.
ReplyDeleteI much prefer laugh to cry, even when it feels like both! I LOVE your countdown to him using your towel again.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Carolynn
I fear we are rather uncouth in this house too (I know, I know, it's not hard to guess). We tend to say 'Good one!' instead of the proper excuse me thing.
ReplyDeleteWith 3 kids, it's a bit of a problem around here, especially since we discovered Fiber One Granola Bars (aka 'farty bars')
It's not dinner without some kind of potty talk, or sound effects, or some other excuse for a giggle. That was cute of Miss Ky. So have you been cooking beans?
ReplyDeleteHa!! We call it fluffing--except when the Dad rips one--then its an earthquake or a bull in the woods. You always make me smile---I think laughter is a good word for you!
ReplyDeleteHey Jeri!
ReplyDeleteReally pleased you joined in the "Word for the year" and blogged about it.
Thanks for the link as well.
I know your word LAUGHTER will come in very handy.. You have a WICKED sense of humour.....for example this post cracked me up with the "trombone lessons" remark.
Laughter is always the best medicine. It is a cut above Whinging, Puking, Insanity and Tired!
Hugs
Peggy
Yes, laughter - far better than tears, eh? At least with my boys, they telegraph what's to come, the girls are far more silent and deadly on that front! Our poor mutt generally carries the blame, regardless! (Grin)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great word to live by, especially considering the rough start you've had to the new year. As for the trombone lessons story, that's a riot. Absolutely hilarious. What a quick witted child you have. Keep laughing, even if it is one of those crazy, I'm-going-insane-right-before-your-eyes sort of laughs.
ReplyDeleteI think that they say that laughter makes the world go round. Keep laughing!
ReplyDeleteLaughter is a GREAT word to pick. Laughter can get us through almost anything that comes our way.
ReplyDeleteI love this post. In my book, all of your words would work well, especially insanity.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I didn't know what "whinge" meant, so I looked it up on dictionary.com...to complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner. Very nice! I think I will be trying to use "whinge" in a sentence for the next several days. It very well be my new favorite word. :)

Sometimes laughter can fix the worst problems. Just ask my daughter!
ReplyDeleteLaughter is an excellent choice. And when you see someone laughing, you always wonder what they're really up to. You can be a woman of mystery!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly made me laugh :) I think you definitely chose well.
ReplyDeleteLaughter is the perfect word. Those were great. Thanks for the laughter!!
