Can you see the concentration in his face?
Can you see where that front tire is heading?
The Hubby wasn't on call last Saturday. That's a good thing, because we had several events going on.
Unfortunately in the military, just because you aren't on call doesn't mean you won't get called in.
He ended up working nearly an entire shift on the ONE sunny day we had.
In an attempt to salvage the day, we walked down to the park to enjoy the sunshine. Miss Ky played on the swings while her brothers built little mounds to jump their bikes over.
Five year-old A2 was the first to try it out.
Again, see that front tire?
Right after this shot, that tire lands askew and Little Guy topples over his handle bars and does a glorious face plant on the hard dirt.
For all of my Bad Mommy choices, I stand proud telling you that I fought the urge to lift the camera and get the shot of his little brown nose (with dirt shoved up inside of it) and his dirt goatee.
My brave little boy was crying, and I held him instead of shooting pictures for posterity.

Poor little guy - hope he keeps riding strong! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGood mommy. :) Did he get on that bike and try it again?
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how blogging changes us? I bet prior to having a blog you wouldn't even have thought of taking a picture first. Good choice. You've not been absorbed too much to the dark side! Great picture of him trying.
ReplyDeleteHe will treasure the picture of himself flying, and he has already forgotten the landing and the tears. Great job, mom.
ReplyDeleteYou know that is an awesome picture, don't you? Nothing better to soothe the sore face than that keepsake ... well other than the loving amrs of his mommy.
ReplyDeleteAnd good on ya for quelling that photoblogging moment ;)
This is aswesome - I love it! Now if I could just get my son to ride a bike (he refuses) well, I guess there is always my daughter!
ReplyDeleteGood job with fighting the urge..the pre-picture is great one!! For you was it a "slow motion" feel?? Did he try again? Looks like a great day to ride a bike..I need to do more of that myself!!
ReplyDeleteI would have done the same thing and just hugged him. Great PSF.
ReplyDeleteHey, can I steal your "no political posts" badge? Or can you tell me where to get one? I agree with that!
LOOK at that concentration!!! Geez he's adorable!
ReplyDeleteI would have had to fight the same urge to shoot the dirt goatee, I'm SURE. But then, TWICE I've posted shots of Evie screaming her guts out...
You guys do the coolest things - even if it means dirt goatee at the end.
ReplyDeletevery good for squelching your photography need. he'll more than likely try it again in the near future, but, like all good little boys, will try to perfect his dirt bike jumping---my big C wants to do karate--i'm not so sure about all those hi-yas and kicks :}
ReplyDeleteFirst time to your blog; loved your name on another posts comments! A Huge Thank You to you and your family for serving our country. I know first hand that wives & kids serve too! :o)
ReplyDeleteWell done with the bike fiasco Mom. Well done. Blessings, Whitney
Hugs trump pics every time. (Secretly though, I wish somebody had picked up the camera and snapped away one of you hugging the little guy. I love mommy-hug pics.)
ReplyDeletePoor little guy! Good for you for resisting the temptation to take pictures. That is a tough urge to resist!
ReplyDeleteGood Mommy.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could say the same, I totally went the paparazzi route this week when my boys were fighting over a toy.
I'm glad he isn't too badly hurt...or you would have mentioned, won't you?
ReplyDeleteI would throw my camera aside too and hug him and dry his tears!
Ouch! I hope the worst your little guy had was dirt up his nose and a dirt goatee.
ReplyDeleteKids are fearless, huh?
Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog! This is the first of many visits to your blog!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a good mom!
There is no love like that of a mother for her son!
~AirmanMom returning to her blog...
Ooooohhh, poor little guy! So tough! And, I admire your restraint! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, btw, I finally finished my Thank You letters. I know I'm so late but it really meant a lot to me to write them so I thought I would let you know I just posted them.
Have a great weekend!
You know I'll be singing that the rest of the day, right? :) witch.
ReplyDeletePoor lil man. Flipping over is one of those rites of passage that you wish they'd never do. And, I'm so awful, I would've snapped the shot.

Aw, poor little guy.
ReplyDeleteBut what a cutie he is..
Yeah, it truly IS a right of passage. Training for the 'get right back up' phase which he will sadly encounter the rest of his life!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie!
I would have tossed the camera aside too. I hope he is ok. I think he is very brave for going off of the jump in the first place. Boys are so tough!

ReplyDeleteAw..poor little guy. He was probably having a wonderful time right up until that happened. I'm glad you didn't take the dirt goatee pic. I am always amazed at some of the funny video shows where a little one is crying and the mom or dad just keeps on filming instead of stopping to comfort their child.
ReplyDeleteOh, poor baby! I'm glad you put that camera down!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend - Kellan
awh jeri.
ReplyDeleteadorable post. ending was so cute. good mommy. positive strokes.
thank you! your comment today made my day girl! see my grin? you put it there. you are so awesome. ((grinning at ya doll))
take care .. we're going camping for the weekend .. beany :)
It is tough to put the camera down sometimes isn't it.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness he was okay. Last year almost to the day my D (6years at the time) did a faceplant and we ended up spending 12 hours at emergency and he got stitches in his mouth. Poor kid looked like he had been in a fight. I to resisted the urge to take a photo. Although at times I wish I had.
ReplyDeletePoor little guy. I'm sure he was back at it in little time after some love from Mommy.
ReplyDeleteWell, way to be a good Mom! I can't even list the number of times my front tire did just that. It got to the point that I really didn't mind the taste of dirt.
ReplyDeleteGood job on resisting the urge to say:,"hold on... just let me get the .. shot, Ok come here for hugs and kisses!"
ReplyDeleteShoot, I hate when that happens, poor little sweetie-pie!
